He was married to (1917.07.20) Susan Bennett on Sep. 12, 1936 at Uncle 
Lynn Jones home in Bradford, NY.  They had these children together:

I found a mention of Maurice in a newspaper article
in the Bainbridge News & Republican, dated Sep. 28, 1944:

  Van Schaick - Bennett: Miss Anna May Bennett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
  Lynn J. Bennett of Afton [Chenango County, NY] became the bride of
  Karl L. Van Schaick, son of Mrs. Daisy Van Schaick of Afton, on
  Saturday, Sept. 16 [1944], in the Baptist Church, Afton.  The Rev.
  Alan Douglas performed the ceremony.  Maurice Sherman was best man
  and Harold Davy was usher.  (the full article is at the link above).

It is likely that Anna May Bennett was related to Susan Bennett
but I have not confirmed that yet.
